The car was delivered new in Milan to its first owner in 1965. However, the owner traded it in just one year later for a 350 GTZ Zagato and a Miura. The car was then sold to a doctor, also from Milan. Later, the car went to the Netherlands and finally to Switzerland. From 2006 to 2009, the 350 GT was completely restored by a German specialist.

Lamborghini's inaugural production car, the 350 GT, was the product of some of the best minds in the Italian automotive industry. Its engine was designed by Giotto Bizzarrini, fresh from exiting Ferrari during "the palace revolt," and its chassis with four-wheel independent suspension engineered by Gian Paolo Dallara, while the bodywork was produced by the renowned Carrozzeria Touring.

The 350 GT was greeted with great acclaim at the Geneva Auto Show in March 1964, and the first customer car was delivered in July of that year. The 350 GT found success as a suave grand tourer, capable of 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds, with a top speed of 158 mph. Each engine was dyno-tested for 20 hours before installation, and the finished cars.

The luxurious supercar had a top speed of 165 mph. A total of 120 examples of the 350 GT were built at the new Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata over the next three years before the model was phased out in favor of the mildly redesigned 400 GT. A few of the later 350 GT examples were upgraded to 4.0-liter specifications early in their lives.

According to Lamborghini factory records, chassis 0226 was completed in July 1965, fitted with engine no. 0181 and finished in Azzurro Fiat (Fiat Blue) with Senape (Mustard) upholstery. Delivered new in Italy, this 350 GT eventually made its way to the US as a second-hand car. In the 1990s, well-known Ferrari collector Philippe Lancksweert.
